About OFPS
The roots of the Ottawa Fountain Pen Society (OFPS) stretch back to shortly after the turn of the century… this century. One fine day in 2001 a few local fountain pen enthusiasts decided to get together to discuss their shared interest.
By 2002 the group was attracting additional members. The OFPS quickly evolved from a small group, meeting informally and with little structure, to a group which is currently 20 members strong. Artwork created in 2003 was readily adopted as the official OFPS logo.
Today, we meet monthly from September through June, at a location in central Ottawa that is easily accessible from all parts of the city. Our schedule is set well ahead of time to allow people to plan around the meeting dates. Dedicated members have been known to travel from as far away as Halifax to attend our meetings!
While all of the members enjoy using and collecting fountain pens, some concentrate their efforts on a particular pen model. Some are quite skilled in fountain pen restoration and are happy to offer advice when asked. There is a diversity of interests within the OFPS and meeting discussions are always informative and enthusiastic. All of our members are eager to share their experiences, knowledge, information and skills.
We are always looking to expand our group with other fountain pen enthusiasts. By joining the OFPS you will connect with people from all age groups—some are fitting this hobby into their busy work lives and others are fitting it into their equally busy retirement years!
New members and visitors (also known as future members!) are warmly welcomed into the Ottawa Fountain Pen Society at every meeting. If you would like more information about our group and our regular meetings, please contact info@ottawafountainpensociety.org.
We hope to see you soon to help us celebrate all things fountain pen!
